Notes

About 90 species, most diverse in eastern Asia and western North America. Harbaugh & al. (2010) confirmed the wide separation from Arenaria that Fior & al. (2006) reported. Broad sampling is still needed to resolve infrageneric relationships; existing information (Sadeghian & al. 2015) is not consistent with the extant classification (McNeill, 1962) erected for these taxa in two subgenera under Arenaria.A
