Close relationships between Gossypianthus Hook. and Guilleminea Kunth and a merger of both genera were long-disputed (Mears 1967; Eliasson 1988). Phylogenetic analysis of plastid (Sánchez del-Pino & al. 2009) and nuclear sequences (Ortuño & Borsch 2020) show that they are distantly related.A,B,C,D,E
