Six species found from western North America south to Chile. Sosa & al. (2006) found Cardionema and Scopulophila clustered with Cerdia. Greenberg & Donoghue (2011) showed Cardionema belonging to a poorly resolved group of genera in the tribe Polycarpaeae.A
