Notes

A group of about 20 species, mostly in central Asia east to Japan, with one species in Europe and three in western North America. The few species thus far sampled cluster near Odontostemma and Lepyrodiclis. Greenberg & Donoghue (2011) included four species and found the American P. jamesiana (Torr.) W. A. Weber & R. L. Hartm. did not cluster with the three Asian species; their report showing Stellaria jamesiana Torr. (= P. jamesiana) clustering among Cerastium is based on a misidentified specimen of Cerastium arvense L.A
