Notes

Hunt (2006) treated Turbinicarpus saueri subsp. ysabelae as synonym of T. saueri subsp. nelissae. Of these two, Vázquez-Sánchez et al. (2019) have sampled only T. saueri subsp. ysabelae, which was highly supported as sister to T. viereckii. We therefore here provisionally accept it at species rank (see also note for T. saueri).A
