Cheiridopsis was found to be closely related to Ihlenfeldtia and Odontophorus (Klak & al. 2013). In addition, one of the three subgenera of Cheiridopsis, C. subg. Odontophoroides, could be more closely related to Odontophorus than to the remainder of Cheiridopsis (Hartmann 2001b). Although Cheiridopsis and Odontophorus were revised at species level (Hartmann 1976; Hartmann & Dehn 1987), their generic limits need to be re-investigated.
