Phylogenetics: Borzicactus is reinstated based on the results of Schlumpberger & Renner (2012). Its circumscription has been the subject of some debate, as summarized by Bregman (1992). The exact delimitation of Borzicactus and the genera currently included or considered related to it is still unclear.A

Category E. No assessment of monophyly has yet been possible, because only a few species were sampled or no phylogenetic study has been conducted so far.
